The QTU’s “acknowledgement of traditional owners” card
The QTU has produced an “acknowledgement of traditional owners” card to assist members at meetings and events.
The card is designed to help members appropriately acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which they are meeting. The card also explains why it is important to acknowledge traditional owners, the QTU’s vision for reconciliation, and how the QTU is promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation within the organisation. It also provides a brief explanation of the Australian Aboriginal flag and the Torres Strait Islander flag.
The card, which folds down to the size of a business card for convenience, features original artwork specially designed by Amanda Power, with input from Gandu Jarjum, the QTU’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education committee.
The card can be requested from your QTU Organiser, or you can download a copy from the QTU website (www.qtu.asn.au/acknowledgement), where you have the option of a printable A4 sheet or the foldable card.
