Conference 2017: G. A. Daughtrey Art Bequest

Each Biennial Conference sees the presentation of the G. A. Daughtrey Art Bequest, an original work of art purchased or commissioned by the Trustees of the Union in honour of the contribution of George Alexander Daughtrey, General Secretary of the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU) from 1935 until his death in office in 1956.

This year, rather than a painting or sculpture, the Trustees opted for an aural artwork, commissioning songwriter and QTU member Phil Monsour to write a song, “Voices Rising”. Visit the Conference page on the QTU website to hear Phil’s work.
