The QTU has welcomed news of positive talks between Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Premier Campbell Newman and their respective education minsters, on the Gonski school funding reforms now known as Better Schools Better Futures.
The talks, held in Queensland, did not result in an agreement but both sides have committed to continue talks over the next two weeks with a view to resolving their differences.
Queensland students deserve better education funding and we sincerely hope that the thawing of the relations between the two governments can lead to an agreement being struck.
